Message from the director
Director Yusuke Yoshino
Asia International Institute of Infectious Diseases Control, Teikyo University was established on June 1, 2013, to promote research and education related to infectious disease control from a global perspective. The Institute aims to contribute to global health through international exchange with Asian countries and collaborative research with various departments. Furthermore, the Institute aims to build a society based on peace of mind and trust for both patients and medical professionals, and to contribute to the advancement of medicine, healthcare, and health care from a new perspective. I have taken over the helm of the Institute from the previous Director, Masaharu Kawachi, and I intend to do my utmost to fulfill this important responsibility. I am a member of the Department of Microbiology at the School of School of Medicine, and by serving as Director, I aim to establish a system that comprehensively addresses the broad field of microbiology and infectious diseases. The infectious diseases we face are caused by a wide variety of viruses and bacteria, and their impacts range from daily life to global public health. The risk of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases is increasing, particularly in Asia. Early detection, rapid response, and the establishment of effective treatments for these infectious diseases are more important than ever. Leveraging my experience and knowledge, I will promote cutting-edge research on viral and bacterial infections at the Institute, working to protect local and global health. I also hope to contribute to sustainable public health improvements by strengthening international collaboration and formulating and implementing effective strategies for infectious disease control. I appreciate your continued cooperation and support in advancing the Institute's research.
Background of establishment
Based on the reflection of nosocomial infections caused by multidrug-resistant Acinetobacter in 2010 at the School of Medicine Hospital, we will promote research and education on infectious disease control and give back to society through international exchanges on infectious disease control in Asia. We established it in June 2013, thinking that it is our mission to go.
